HPL-Apollo Opens Branch in Miami

HPL-Apollo LogoHPL-Apollo is pleased to announce that on March 1st, twenty employees began operating a 24,000 square foot warehouse and cooling facility in Miami, Florida, with Branch Manager Vicente Meneses at the helm.

According to Ivo Skorin, the Chief Operating Officer for HPL-Apollo, Miami is the hub for all the cargo arriving from Latin America to the US, and a major transit point for cargo traveling to Europe and Asia. “Our main goal there is to connect perishables from Latin America to the US and the rest of the world,” Skorin said.

“Because of all the flights – cargo and passenger flights – perishables come to Miami and then are distributed by trucks within the US while others are re-forwarded by air to Europe and Asia. On top of that, Miami operates as a consolidation hub for other food items exported from the USA to the Caribbean and Central America by air and ocean,” he said.

HPL-Apollo had been operating in Los Angeles and San Francisco since 2009 and the steady success of these other operations led to discussions with Hellmann Worldwide Logistics to become the perishable unit for Hellman in the United States.

The plan is to keep growing and expanding and looking for opportunities to expand in New York, Houston, and also Canada – along with the Hellman team.

“We’re very excited,” Skorin said. “We’re up to the challenge. We’re looking forward to continue growing and running a profitable business while providing our people opportunities to grow with us,” he said.
