Challenging Travel Logistics for Vice President Mike Pence

Maytag Aircraft Corporation is proud to have been part of a high profile foreign visit; one that led to the head of Vice President Mike Pence’s Secret Service detail expressing gratitude for their assistance during his quickly-pulled together trip to Colombia.

On February 25, 2019, Vice President Pence traveled to Bogota to address the political turmoil in Venezuela and any U.S. humanitarian assistance to that country. Travel to the region presents significant challenges, and Maytag Aircraft has the expertise to quickly and successfully provide travel support under these conditions.

David Nelson, President and Chief Operating Officer of Maytag Aircraft Corporation, heard from the Secret Service official who voiced his appreciation of Maytag Aircraft’s “pulling a rabbit out of hat” for such a crucial trip. The company handled logistics for all of Vice President Pence and entourage, according to Mr. Nelson.

Maytag Aircraft provides air terminal and ground handling support in foreign countries to dignitaries traveling to those countries. In the past, this has included the President of the United States, U.S. Congressional Representatives, U.S. Cabinet Members, Press Corp, and foreign diplomats.

State Departments and the U.S. Military Assistance Advisory Group (MILGRP) are also important customers of Maytag Aircraft. MILGRP members are the U.S. military advisers sent to foreign countries to assist in training and facilitate military sales. They work in “hot spots” and help promote military partnerships in Latin American countries, such as the countries Maytag Aircraft has significant contracts in.

Mr. Nelson stated, “Maytag Aircraft has supported the U.S. Air Force, along with the U.S. Embassy/MILGRP, throughout Latin America for more than twenty-five years and is proud of our logistics support of the U.S. mission and our allies in the region.”
